In the Ontario Integrated Program at HTS, students take Ontario MOE subjects taught in English for half the day.

Students from Grade 1 to Grade 9 in the Ontario Integrated Program will study a range of selected Ontario subjects such as Applied Mathematics & STEM, English Language, Applied Science & Technology, Health & Physical Education, Visual Arts, and Musical & Performance Arts. STEM and ICT are integrated across multiple disciplines and grade levels because they are vital components of cultivating problem-solving, critical thinking, innovation, and collaboration skills.

From Grade 10 to 12, students in the Ontario Integrated Program will study Ontario subjects including English, Health & Physical Education, Visual Arts, Computer Science, and Business. The offering of specialized subject paths throughout the three years of High School such as Business Studies and Computer Science will allow Ontario Integrated Program students to meet certain Canadian university admission requirements.

Ontario Integrated Program (OIP)

For the other half day, students complete Vietnam’s MOET subjects with an applied, hands-on, Ontario Curriculum immersion approach. Students will experience an inquiry-based approach to the Vietnamese Curriculum through emphasis of 21st-century skills.

Ultimately, students in the Ontario Integrated Program will be working towards gaining their Vietnamese High School Diploma from Grade 9 while also obtaining compulsory Ontario Secondary School credits. They can then transfer to HTS’s Ontario Optimized Program from Grade 10 by transferring equivalent credits and work towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
The Ontario Optimized Program at HTS provides one of the most exciting educational opportunities for international and local students in Vietnam. This is Hanoi’s first academic pathway leading to the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and incorporates the Ontario Curriculum from Year 1 to Year 12. A two-week immersion excursion to Toronto is arranged in Grade 11 to experience the social and cultural highlights of our sister school, Lynn-Rose College, and to sit the Ontario Secondary Schools Literacy Test.

All subjects are taught by teachers trained in Ontario Curriculum Standards using Ontario Ministry of Education resources. STEM & ICT subjects are integrated across multiple disciplines at all grade levels to emphasize the development of problem-solving, critical thinking, innovation, and collaboration skills.

By completing OSSD compulsory and elective credits, students are provided pathways to Canadian universities and other international universities of choice. The OSSD is a globally recognized diploma that opens limitless opportunities to enter universities around the world.

The Ontario International Program includes 10 periods in Vietnamese per week for Vietnamese students and 5 periods per week for international students in the International Plus extension program.

Ontario Optimized Program (OOP)

HTS has developed the Ontario Optimized Program, which is a specialized program designed to better meet the needs of our international students while also allowing them to learn a new language and experience a new culture. They will experience the Ontario Curriculum at the same rate and pace of delivery as the Ontario International Program students without the Vietnamese Curriculum requirements.

Ontario Optimized Plus Program students can participate in specially designed extra-curricular activities and could also choose to participate in the extra-curriculum activities which are offered to Vietnamese students of the Ontario Optimized Program and Ontario Integrated Program. Moreover, they will have the opportunity to be immersed in their host nation’s culture and linguistic characteristics through our Vietnamese as an Additional Language (VAL) Program.
*Note: Vietnamese students in the Ontario Optimized Program will be required to study mandated MOET subjects for their respective grade levels.
